Announcers for Thursday & Friday's Games

Information that is almost as important as the actual brackets came out yesterday when CBS announced which broadcasting duos would be calling the games on Thursday and Friday. The bracket gods are truly shining on me this year because Pitt won the Gus Johnson sweepstakes! This Pitt team HAS to be a team of destiniy! WE GOT GUS! Mr. Johnson will be paired up with Mr. Len Elmore to call the Pitt/Oral Roberts, Michigan State/Temple, Notre Dame/George Mason, and Washington State/Winthrop games. You better believe that CBS wanted Gus Johnson announcing a pair of 5 vs. 12 games. Phil...I have some bad news...Billy Packer and Jim Nantz are doing the Davidson/Gonzaga game. I don't know what to tell you. You can always hit mute or turn on an internet radio fee. In other Big Dance announcing news...fans of Tennessee, American University, South Alabama, Butler, St. Joseph's, Oklahoma, Boise State, and Louisville can rejoice because they will have the outstanding tandem of Bill Raftery and Verne Lundquist calling their games. I can't wait until Friday, around 12:16 pm, when Raftery announces that Tennessee opens in the "MANTAMAN!!!"

  1. Man, my game will be on at 10am Saturday morning my time. That would be ideal except for the fact that we have family coming into town and I will be their tour guide on the weekend. Wait...cough...cough...I think I'm coming down with something...cough...feels like the 108 hour flu...probably have to rest and watch basketball until it clears up around 1pm on Saturday. Think it'll work?

  3. I didn't make up any of the information in this entry...but I think that it's my favorite and most informative entry of this blog so far.

Matt...I might have to call you in China during the Villanova game. Hopefully you'll feel good enough to talk despite the 108 hour flu. You can be a tour guide at 1pm! This is your alma mater playing in the NCAA Tournament! Don't back down...you deserve (need) to watch that game.

I'm super excited about Gus and Len doing the Pitt game. I'm also looking forward to the duo calling the Pitt vs. Temple game on Saturday (bold).

Phil...have you decided on a strategy to avoid Billy Packer during the Davidson game?
